On May 30, 1943 he married Jeanette Collins in South Bend, Indiana.

In April 1945 He was assigned to the 314th Bomb Wing HQ Squadron at North Field, Guam, as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic and was trained to as Aerial Engineer - which meant he was qualified to fly on missions to assist the regular Flight Engineer to make any needed repairs while in flight.*

He discharged from the Army Air Forces Dec 24, 1945.

He was a member of the American Legion of Walkertown, Ind. He also was a member of the Woodstock Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5040, the Masons and the Shriners.

He was the owner of BTM Industries, a machine job shop, in Woodstock. Before moving to the area, he taught high school shop in South Bend.

He loved to spend time with his wife and four sons, Michael, Bryan, Timothy, and Mark and their families at his home in Lake Geneva.

He has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Glenn Allan Porter died Sunday, December 14, 2003, in Woodstock, IL. at the age of 79.
